‘DISCOVER CHINA (BY BICYCLE)’ video series NOW FOR THE HEARING IMPAIRED

聋人扎伊尔骑自行车拍摄《发现中国》系列节目

With the addition of Zhayi’er, an ethnic Chinese, this video series (at www.haaqi.com) is now accessible to the hearing impaired.

此次活动是新疆的乌孜别克族小伙子扎伊尔（聋哑残疾人），为所有听力障碍人士而拍摄制作。

‘Zhayi’er and I,’ says host F.A. Hutchison (Chinese name ‘Haqi’) make for a unique pair traveling around China on bicycles.  One older (69) American ‘laowei’ who can’t speak Chinese, and a young (26) ethic Chinese man who can’t hear.  I can’t write Chinese, he doesn’t know much English, so how do we communicate?’ 

本活动发起人——美国哈齐先生说“扎伊尔和我将组成特殊的骑行组合，自行车环游全中国。我们这个组合很特殊：一位69岁不会说汉语的美国老人和一位26岁的聋哑人；我不会汉语，他也不会英语，也听不到声音，那么我们如何交流呢”？

‘Zhayi’er,’ Hutchison continues, ‘is a very talented and clever young man, one of the best bicycle mechanics in China.  I met him two and one-half years ago at the Giant Bicycle shop in Urumqi (Xinjiang A.R.).  We became friends.’

哈奇先生继续说：“扎伊尔是一位很有才华的聪明小伙子，他是中国最优秀的自行车修理师之一。两年半前我在新疆乌鲁木齐的捷安特自行车专卖店遇到他，从那时起，我们就成了好朋友。”

‘Since then he’s joined us at www.haaqi.com here in Xining.  One of our video producers, he now has the additional duty of co-hosting the series ‘Discover China (by bicycle)’ with me!  I talk.  He ‘signs!’
